Explanation : | ||
One who does the traitorous adultery in the house of the strongly trusted with no doubts is nothing but the dead man. Even with no iota of doubt, with strong and complete trust, in the allowed house to behave freely and friendly, as if has done treacherous to the fed house when one indulges traitorous adultery by alluring his wife, what to do with him? There is no forgiveness for the betrayers. Then how to take the revenge? This is where the Valluvar style comes in handy. As in his saying 'The right way to punish the one who has done ill is to do good to him to make him shy', he says to treat this traitor among the dead. Its meaning is not to end or terminate his life. Instead to treat him further as if dead though he lives, to cut any relationship and dealings with him and not to tread as friend or foe. This is the implicit meaning here. When you consider the traitor ill friend as dead and terminate his contacts, at least there won't be further damages and traitorous activities. The happened ill will not extend or expand. This is the greatest punishment one can levy without any emotional impacts but with peace and harmony. It is like controlling the anger with silence; it stops the mistake and also the faultier from further damaging. After traitorously provoked and having done adultery with the trusted friend's wife, when one says 'How only one hand cannot clap’ and trying to escape or blame the woman involved is the worst ill than anybody. The person who is the root cause for the adultery is the ill. Then, is the friend who had trust and faith also the culprit? No. It is because the trusted one has not offended any virtues. The one who has done adultery is the ill through his bad intention and deed. There is no forgiveness for the traitors. Therefore without forgetting treat the ill culprit as the dead and continue the life. The punishment for him for his sin is not to get near you and not to get your friendship ever in life. Let us have the friendship of those who do not have differences in words and deeds. | ||
