அதிகாரம் : 20 பயனில சொல்லாமை முகவுரை Chapter : 20 No Vain Utterance Preface

	ஒருவருக்கும் ஒரு பயனும் இல்லாத சொற்களைச் சொல்லாமை. அதாவது தேவையற்ற, அவசியமற்ற, விவேகமற்ற வார்த்தைகளைப் பேசாது இருத்தல். பேசத் தெரிந்த ஆறறிவு மனிதர்கள், மொழியையும், எழுத்தையும் கண்டு பிடித்துக் கொண்டது ஒருவருக்கொருவர் உரையாடிக் கொள்ளவும், கருத்துக்களைப் பரிமாறிக் கொள்ளவும், உறவாடவும், நட்புக் கொள்ளவும், வியாபாரம் செய்யவும், இலக்கியம் செய்து வரும் சந்ததியினருக்குக் கொடுக்கவும் மாத்திரம் அன்று. நல் இனிமையையும், இணக்கத்தையும், இசைவையும் பெருக்கி மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் வாழவும், வாழும் காலத்தை வளப்படுத்தவும், நல்லெண்ணங்களையும் நல்லோரையும் வளர்த்தெடுக்கவும் மற்றும் விலைமதிப்பற்ற நேரத்தைப் பொன்னெனப் போற்றி வாழ்வைப் பொருட்படுத்தவும் தான்.
ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் வாழும் காலம் நிரந்தரமானதுமல்ல நீண்டதுமல்ல. கிடைத்த காலத்தைச் செவ்வனே பயன் படுத்தித்தான் வெற்றிகளையும், சாகசங்களையும் சாத்தியப் படுத்த முடியும். எனவே பிறருடன் கலந்துரையாடி மகிழும் போழ்தும், கருத்துக்களைப் பரிமாறிக் கொள்ளும் போதும் அர்த்தம் மிக்கதாகப் பயன் படுத்துக் கொள்வதே அறிவுடைமை. ஆதலின் பயனிலாத, உதவாத, உபயோகமற்ற, உருப்படாத, தேவையற்ற, பொருந்தாத, அவசியமற்ற, வீணான, வேலைக்கு ஆகாத, விவேவகமற்ற, நேரத்தைப் பாழடிக்கின்ற, பிரயோஜனமற்ற வார்த்தைகளைப் பேசுவதும், கேட்பதைத் தவிர்த்தலுமே வெற்றிக்கு வித்து. உழைக்காது, அழைக்காது, களைப்புத் தருகின்ற வாதத்தைச் சொல்லிப் பேசிக் களுத்தறுத்துக் களிப்புறுவோர் அவரது நேரத்தை மாத்திரமன்றிக் கேட்பவரின் நேரத்தையும் வீணடிக்கின்ற அறிவிலிகளே. அவ்வாறே பயனற்றவற்றை எழுதுவோரும் மற்றைய ஊடகங்களின் மூலம் படைப்போரும், பரப்புவோரும் சமுதாயத்தின் நேரத்தைப் பாழாக்கும் மடையர்களே. உதவாத உளறல்களைப் பைத்தியக்காரர்களே பேசுவார்கள், வேலையற்றோரே ரசிப்பார்கள். அவ்வாறு இல்லாது அறிவுளோர் பயனிலாத சொல் சொல்கிறார் என்றால் அவர் திசை திருப்புகிறார் அன்றில் ஏதோ தவறு செய்கிறார் என்பது பொருள். எனவே வாழ்வில் சிறப்புக்களையும், உயர்வினையும் பெற, எண்ணங்கள் சிதறாது இயங்க பயனில சொல்லாமை மிகவும் அவசியம். மனிதர்கள் இனியவற்றையும், உண்மையையும் பேசுவதோடு மட்டுமல்லாது பொய், புறம் மற்றும் பயனற்றவற்றையும் பேசுதல் கூடாது எனும் நல்லறத்தை வலியுறுத்தவும், பொருத்தம் கருதியும் புறம் கூறாமை அத்தியாயத்தைத் தொடர்ந்து இங்கே வள்ளுவர் பேசுகின்றார்.

Not speaking of useless words. That is not uttering unnecessary, unwanted and absurd words. Human beings with sixth sense and talking abilities found the language and letters to converse, exchange the ideas, to relate, to make friends, to do business and to make the literature for the coming generation. Not only that but also to speak in good sense, to be in cohesion and to raise harmony and co-operation, and to enrich the living life, and to cultivate good thinking and good people and more importantly to appreciate and value the precious time to make the life more meaningful. Life will never be a permanent or long lasting period for each and everyone. Success and victories are possible only through proper and effective usage of the living time. Therefore it is only wise to make it meaningful and sensible to spend the time with others while talking or exchanging the ideas only the fruitful and worthy. Therefore the seed for the success is that one should never speak the useless, helpless, un-utilizable, unnecessary, nonsensical, unessential, preposterous, absurd, worthless, profitless, unintelligent, wasteful, vain words. And possibly one should even avoid hearing such talks and words. Those are nothing but the fools who do not work and uninvited but keep giving comments and tiresome arguments, boring and wasting not only their time but also the listeners. Similarly those who write nonsense or create through others medias are also undoubtedly idiots only. Only insane people will talk rubbish and unworthy words and may some jobless enjoy it. Otherwise if such vain words spoken by some wise then the reason could be that either one is trying to cover something or one is committing some offense. Therefore to achieve greater fame and accomplishments and to work focused, it is necessary that one should never utter vain words.
