192	நண்பருக்குக் கெடுதல் செய்வதைக் காட்டிலும் கேடானது பலர் முன்பு சொல்லும் பயன் அற்ற சொல். Talking non-sense in front of many is worst than doing afflictions to friends.
193	பயன் இலாதவற்றை விவரித்துப் பேசும் உரை ஒருவனின் அறிவின்மையையும் நலமற்ற தன்மையையுமே வெளிக் காட்டும். One’s expanded useless talk only exhibits the ignorance and the state of no goodness of one.
194	பண்பிலாது பயனற்றவற்றைப் பலர் முன் பேசுவோனை இனிமையும், நலமும் விட்டுப் பிரிந்து சென்று விடும். When vain words are spoken in discourtesy to many, happiness and goodness will leave instantly.
195	கருணையும் தண்மையும் கொண்டவரேனும் பயனிலாத சொற்களைச் சொன்னால் அவரது பெருமையும் அதற்கான மேன்மையும் அவரை விட்டு நீங்கிவிடும். The reputation and excellence leave even the gentle and kind men when they speak senseless words.
196	பயனிலாத சொற்களைப் பாராட்டுவோரை மனிதர் என்பதைக் காட்டிலும் பதர் எனக் கொள்வதே பொருந்தும். It is befitting to consider those who appreciate the absurd as human chaff instead of human.
197	சான்றோர் நன்மை அற்றவற்றைத் தேவை கருதிச் சொன்னால் கூடப் பரவாயில்லை; பயன் அற்றவற்றை மட்டும் சொல்லாமல் இருத்தலே நலம். The wise may even speak the not good when may necessary but not the useless words is for own good.
198	அரும் பயன்களை ஆராய்ந்து அறியக் கூடியோர் பயனற்ற எந்தச் சொல்லையும் சொல்ல மாட்டார்கள். Those wise who research and understand things of rare usages will not utter any useless words.
199	மயக்கம், கலக்கம், மாசு அற்றுச் சிந்தனை தெளிந்தவர்கள் பொருள் அற்ற சொல்லை மறந்தும் சொல்ல மாட்டார்கள். Those who have clear mental vision free from bewilderment, perplexity and defects will never utter meaningless words even by mistake.
200	பயன் உடையவற்றைச் சொல்லுக. பயன் அற்றவற்றைச் சொல்லாதீர். Speak useful and never the useless words.

குறிப்புரை

பலரும் வெறுக்கத் தக்க பயனில் பேசுதல் என்பது நண்பருக்குக் கெடுதல் செய்வதைக் காட்டிலும் கேடானது. எனவே அவ்வாறு பேசுவோர் எல்லோராலும் பழிக்கப் படுவர். இனிமையும், நலமும் அவனை விட்டு விலகிச் சென்று விடும். பயனில் பேசுவோன் கருணையும் தண்மையும் கொண்டவனாயினும் அவனது பெருமையும் அதற்கான மேன்மையும் அவனை விட்டு நீங்கிவிடும். பயனில் பேசுவது, அதை விவரித்தும் பேசுவது என்பது பேசுபவரின் அறிவின்மையும், நலமற்ற தன்மையையுமே காட்டும். எனவே அத்தகையோரை மனிதரில் பதர் எனக் கொள்வதே பொருந்தும். சான்றோர் என்போர் தேவை கருதி நன்மை அல்லாதவற்றைக் கூடச் சொல்லலாம், ஆனால் பயன் அற்றவற்றை ஒருபோதும் அல்ல. அதைப் போலவே அரும் பயன்களை ஆராய்ந்து அறியும் அறிவுடையோரும் பயனற்ற சொல்லைச் சொல்ல மாட்டார்கள். மயக்கம், கலக்கம், சிந்தனை மாசு அற்றுத் தெளிந்தவர்களும் பயனற்றவற்றை மறந்தும் சொல்ல மாட்டார்கள். எனவே பேசினால் பயனுள்ளதை மட்டும் பேசுக. பயனற்றவற்றை ஒருபோதும் சொல்லாதீர்.

Message

Speaking useless words to the disgust of many is worst than doing afflictions to friends. Therefore such speaker will get despised by all. Happiness and goodness will leave him instantly. Even though he is gentle and kind the reputation and excellence leave when he speaks senseless. Talking useless and enhancing it only will show the speaker's ignorance and his state of no goodness. Therefore it is better to consider such speakers as only human chaff. The wise may even speak the not good when necessitates but never the useless. Similarly those who gain the knowledge through research will also not utter useless words. Also those who have clear mental vision and free from bewilderment, perplexity and defects will not utter meaningless words even by mistake. Therefore when necessary is to speak, speak only the useful and never speak the useless words.
