காலத்தினால் செய்த நன்றி சிறிது எனினும், ஞாலத்தின் மாணப் பெரிது.

பொழிப்புரை :

தக்க சமயத்தில் செய்த உதவி [அளவில்] சிறிது எனினும், [அது] உலகைக் காட்டிலும் பன்மடங்கு பெரியது.

விரிவுரை :

உற்ற காலத்தில், காலம் தவறாது செய்த உதவி அளவில் சிறிதே எனினும், அஃது உலகைக் காட்டிலும் பன் மடங்கில் பெரியதாகும். இக்கட்டான, நெருக்கடியான, அவசரமான, உடனடியாகத் தேவைப்பட்டக் காலங்களில் செய்யப்படும் உதவியே, நன்மையே பல வேளைகளில் உயிரை, உடலை, உடைமையை, வாய்ப்பை, விபத்துக்களிலிருந்தும், ஆபத்துக்களிலிருந்தும், வழுவுவதிலிருந்தும், நழுவுவதிலிருந்தும் காப்பாற்றுகின்றன. அத்தகைய உதவி அளவில் சிறிதாக இருக்கலாம், ஆனால் அது செய்யப்பட்ட இடம், காலப் பொருத்தங்களின் பால் உலகைக் காட்டிலும் பல மடங்குகள் பெரியதாகவும், சிறப்பானதாகவும் கருதப்படும். ஓர் உயிரைக் காப்பாற்றச் செய்யப்படும் அவசரகால இரத்ததானம், உறுப்புத் தானம், விபத்தில் அகப்பட்ட ஒருவரை மருத்துவ மனைக்குச் சிகிச்சைக்குக் கொண்டு செல்லும் உதவி, அவருக்குச் செய்யும் முதல் உதவிச் சிகிச்சை, மகப்பேற்று வலியில் துடிக்கும் பெண்டிருக்குச் செய்யும் உதவிகள் போன்றவை காலத்தினால் செய்யப்பட்ட உதவிக்கு உதாரணங்கள். உயிரைக் காப்பாற்றச் செய்யப்படும் உற்ற நேரத்து உதவிகள். அதைப்போலவே இடருற்ற காலத்தே, கால வரையறைக்குள் செய்யப்பட வேண்டிய அவசிய உதவிகள் எண்ணற்றவை. அவ்வாறு செய்யப்பட்ட உதவிகள் சில துளி நேரங்களையும், பொருளையும், முயற்சியையும் கொண்டு செய்யப்பட்டு இருந்தாலும் அவை செய்யப்பட்ட சூழ்நிலையைப் பொறுத்து அவை நிச்சயம் முக்கியமானதாகவும், சிறப்பானதாகவும், உலகைக் காட்டிலும் பன் மடங்கில் பெரியதாகவும் கொள்ளப்படும். அவ்வாறு அவற்றைக் கருதி, மதிக்க வேண்டும் என்பதே கருத்து.

kAlaththinAl ceytha nanRi siRithu eninum, njAlaththin mANap perithu.

Meaning :

Timely rendered help though small is greater in multitudes than the world.

Explanation :

Appropriately offered help in the need of the hour, though may be trivial is indeed greater in many folds than the world. Help and the good service done at the difficult, crucial, critical, urgent and emergency times saves most of the time life, body, property, opportunity from accidents, risks and perils by either preventing or exiting. Such a help may be petty or small but by the situation, time, place and the nature it may be considered as many a times bigger and greater than the world. Blood donation at emergency to save a life; body parts donation, admitting the victim of an accident to a hospital; providing first aid services to such needy, services and the assistance rendered to the pregnant women during their labors are examples of timely helps. Similar to the Helps rendered to save the life, essential helps which are necessary to be executed during difficulties within the stipulated times are countless. Such helps though may have taken up few drops of time, material and efforts, depending on the rendered situation, it may be considered as crucial, exceptional, significant and many times greater than the world.
