123	அறிவாலும், செயலாலும் பேணப்படும் அடக்கம் சீரிய சிறப்பை நிச்சயம் நல்கும். Self-control adopted by sense and deed will certainly yield distinguished glory.
124	மாறா அடக்கம் மலையினும் பெரியது. The steadfast self-control is greater than a mountain.
125	மனிதருக்குச் செல்வம் கூடினால் அடக்கம் இன்னும் அத்தியாவசியமாகிறது. When the wealth increases for one, humility, the self-control becomes more essential.
126	புலன்களை அடக்கி ஒருமுகப்பட்டு ஆற்றப்படும் செயல் காலங்களை விஞ்சி நின்று நன்மை பயக்கும். Actions of focused mind with controlled senses will stand beyond ages providing goodness.
127	குறைந்த பட்ச நாவடக்கத்தையாவது ஒருவர் மேற்கொள்ளத் தவறினால் சொற் குற்றத்தால் துன்புறுவர். Failing to control the tongue at the least will suffer for uttering offensive words.
128	தீய வார்த்தை ஒன்றே சொலினும் பகர்ந்தவை அனைத்தும் பாழாகிவிடும். Entire discourse turns bad though only single word is ill.
129	தீரா வலியை, ஆறா உளக் காயத்தை நா அடக்கமற்ற சொல் ஏற்படுத்திவிடும். Abuse of uncontrolled tongue induces incurable internal pain and scar.
130	அடக்கம், பொறுமை, அறிவுடன் செயப்படும் செயல் உயரிய ஒழுக்கத்துடன் திகழும். Performance with self-control, patience and wisdom shall yield the high degree actions of the virtue.

குறிப்புரை

ஒருவருக்கு அறிவாலும், செயலாலும், மாறாது பேணப்படும் அடக்கம் மேன்மையையும், சிறப்பையும் நல்கும். அடக்கமே பேணிக்காக்கப்பட வேண்டிய உயிரின் உயர்வான செல்வம் ஆகும். மனிதரின் நிலை உயரும்பொழுது அடக்கம் மிக அத்தியாவசியமாகின்றது. புலன்களை அடக்கி ஒருமுகப்படுத்திச் செயல்பட்டால் காலங்களை விஞ்சி நிற்கும் வெற்றியும், நன்மையும் பயக்கும். ஒருவர் குறைந்த பட்சமாக நாவினை அடக்கியாவது வாழ்ந்தால் சொற் குற்றத்தின் துன்பமிலாது வாழலாம். சொல்லும் வார்த்தைகளில் ஒன்றும் தீதிலாதே, யாருக்கும் தீரா உளக் காயத்தை ஏற்படுத்தும் அடக்கமற்ற, பண்பற்ற வார்த்தையை பேசாது திகழுதல் வேண்டும். அறிவு, அடக்கம், பொறுமை இவற்றுடன் செயல் பட்டால் செய்யும் செயல் உயரிய தரத்துடன் விழங்கும். அடங்காமை ஒருவரைக் கீழ்ப்படுத்தும். அடங்கா நாவினால் ஏற்படுத்தும் தீச் சொற்கள் பேசுவதை அனைத்தையும் பாழாக்குவதோடு மட்டுமல்லாமல், தீராக் காயத்தை ஏற்படுத்தி வெறுப்பையும், எதிரிகளையும், துன்பத்தையும் நல்கும். ஒருவரால் அடக்கமிலாதே எந்த நல்ல காரியத்தையும் ஆற்றவோ, ஒழுங்கான உருவாக்கத்தை இயற்றவோ இயலாது.

Message

Unchanged self-control and the humility adopted by sense and deed yields progress and glory. Self-control is the greatest virtue and wealth of the soul and hence to be preserved. When a man grows in social status, the self-control becomes inevitable and more essential. When an action is made with focused mind with controlled senses, it will stand beyond the ages as success and yield eternal glory and goodness. One should at least control the tongue from ill and offensive usage to avoid any afflictions. Uttering words must be pure without any ill notions and controlled not to create any incurable internal hurts to anyone. Deeds performed with self-control, wisdom and patience will excel. Insubordination, indulgence and haughtiness will make one to subdue. The offensive words uttered by the uncontrolled tongue not only spoils everything delivered but also damages through incurable hurts by which earns only hate, enemies and sufferings. One cannot do any good or create any worthy thing without discipline of self-control.
