பிறவிப் பெருங்கட னீந்துவர் நீந்தா ரிறைவ னடிசேரா தார்.

பிறவிப் பெருங் கடல் நீந்துவர், நீந்தார் இறைவன் அடி சேராதார்.

பொழிப்புரை :

இறைவனின் பாதங்களைச் சேர்ந்து ஒழுகுவோர் மட்டுமே, இப் பிறவியால் விளைந்த வாழ்வெனும் பெருங்கடலை நீந்திக் கடப்பர், மற்றையோரால் கடக்க முடியாது.

விரிவுரை :

இப்பிறவி வாழ்க்கை என்பது பெருங்கடலைப் போன்றது. இறைவனைச் சார்ந்து அவன் பாதாரவிந்தங்களை ஒழுகுபவர்களால் மட்டுமே அக்கடலைக் கடக்க இயலும். இறைவனைச் சாராதோரால் அக்கடலைக் கடக்க இயலாது மூழ்கிவிடுவர். பிறவிக்கும் வாழ்வுக்கும் குறிக்கோள் இருக்கிறது. அதாவது உலக இன்ப, துன்பங்களை மட்டும் அனுபவித்துவிட்டு மறைவதல்ல வாழ்க்கை. அதன் நோக்கம் மீண்டும் பிறக்கும் சுழற்சியைக் கட்டறுத்து முக்தி பெற்று அதாவது வீடு பேறு பெறுவதாகும். அது ஒரு கடலைக் கடப்பதற்குச் சமம். அதற்குக் கடவுளின் பால் சேர்ந்து ஒழுகுவது மாத்திரமே கடப்பதற்கான கலத்தையும், உபாயத்தையும், தேவையான சக்தியையும் கொடுக்கும். அன்றில் மீண்டும் பிறவி எடுத்துக் கொண்டு, இவ்வுலகத் துன்பத்தில் உழல வேண்டும் என்பது உட்கருத்து. நம் வாழ்வின் முக்கிய நோக்கம், இந்த வாழ்வைக் காட்டிலும் மேன்மையான நிலையை அடைவதே ஆகும். பள்ளியில் கல்வி கற்கும்போது நோக்கம் அந்த வகுப்பினைப் படித்துத் தேறி, அடுத்த வகுப்பிற்கு, நிலைக்குச் செல்வதே. அதைப் போன்றதே வாழ்வும். மனது எனும் ஆத்மாவைக் கொண்டு ஆக்கபட்டுள்ள இந்த மனித வாழ்வின் முடிவு, பரமாத்மாவைச் சென்றடைவதாக இருக்க வேண்டும். அதற்கு இறைவனையே சிந்தித்து ஒழுகி இந்த வாழ்வெனும் கடலை நீந்திக் கடக்க வேண்டும். மீண்டும் அதே வகுப்பில் வெற்றி பெறாத, தேறாத மாணவராக அல்லாது, இதே வாழ்க்கையை மீண்டும் பிறந்து உழலாமல் மனிதன் இந்த வாழ்வில் தேர்ச்சி பெற்று, முக்தி பெற்று வீடு பெற வேண்டும். எனவே பிறப்பறுக்கும் மருந்தாகிய இறைவனைப் பற்றி ஒழுகி மேம்படுவோமாக.

இறைவன் அடியைப் பேணியே இப்பிறவி வாழ்வைக் கடைத்தேற இயலும்.

piRavip perung kadal neendhuvAr, neendhAr iRaivan adi sErAdhAr.
Meaning :
Only those who gain the God's feet can cross the ocean of this birth, and none other can reach the shore.
Explanation:
This life is like the ocean. Only those who take asylum on the Lord and worship His footsteps can cross that ocean. Others who are not dependent on God cannot cross that ocean and will get drowned. There is a purpose to birth and life. That is, life is not just about enjoying worldly pleasures and suffering and then disappearing. Its purpose is to free the cycle of rebirth and to attain salvation i.e. home boon. It's like crossing an ocean. Only worshiping the God will give it the tool, the ability, and the necessary power to overcome it. Otherwise one has to born again and suffer the worldly affliction is the implied message. The main purpose of our life is to attain a higher state than this life. The purpose of learning in school is to pass that class and move on to the next class and the level. Life is just like that. The end of this human life, which is made up of the soul of the mind, must be to reach the God. For that, one has to think and worship only the Lord and swim across the ocean called this life. Instead of being an unsuccessful and not winning student in the same class again, man should be able to master this life, get salvation and get home without having to be born again and suffer in the same life. Therefore let us clasp, follow and get improved with the Lord, the medicine to get rid of birth.

Only by following the feet of the Lord can we overcome this life.
